![]() ![]() I first met him in person after his inital 3 day hotel quarantine. We eventually were able to get him through and get him organized for his new life in Saskatchewan. He eventually got accepted but that was during COVID and because of regulation, he couldn't move because of various regulations and visa problems. He was gonna move to Quebec, so I mostly was trying to introduce him to Quebec culture and French at the time.Īfter the CAQ cancelled all the pending approved immigrant, he was pretty bummed, so I encouraged him to continue and reapply and I helped him try to find other pathway to migrate. I started after he got his inital application approval for immigration. I'm not a notable player or really notable at all in any kind of capacity beyond just existing in it, and idk if I'd call the people in that server my friends but they seem to know and like me well enough and I met up with a few people from it irl earlier this year at one of the biggest tournaments of the year. The server has grown a lot over time but I was one of the OGs from when it started back in 2018. Melee in a kind of nerdy and stats-focused way. I'm also an active poster in a server for people really into spectating competitive Super Smash Bros. I'm actually not as close with people in that server, but I still regularly post and monitor it and consider the people in it friends as well. They eventually made a Discord server more directly associated with the board a few years ago, and it changed hands several times before ending up in mine. A lot of people left as the site waned in popularity but I was one of the few who stayed. I also ended up becoming a more prominent and infamous member on that GameFAQs board over time, for posting outlandish things and having a freakishly good memory about what other people posted about. ![]() I consider that group of people my closest online friends. Apparently one of those people talked to a lot more people from the board off-site, and when Discord grew in popularity he invited me to a server he made with everyone else he talked to off-site, and now the server has a couple dozen people or so who are all pretty close and talk to each other regularly. Once I made a Steam account when the platform started getting big though, I added several people from there and a few people started messaging me a lot and a couple of them talked to me every day. For the first like four of those most people found me annoying and I only really had one friend, who I sort of drifted away from.
